Make sure you see only qualified eye care professionals for prescriptions and checkups. To find the best local practitioners, you can ask for personal recommendations from friends and family or look online for patient feedback on specific doctors. When you do this you’re going to great eye care.

Some sunglasses don’t do much to help block harmful UV rays. You want to make sure that you can block the UV rays completely. Even sunglasses that are fashionable should be chosen for their effectiveness as to how they block out the sun.

Some foods can prevent eye problems. Many studies have been done and show how omega-3 fatty acids, zinc and Vitamins E and C reduce the risk of eye problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. Eat at least one serving a day from choices among dark, leafy veggies, oranges, nuts, beans, and seafood like tuna or salmon.

If you are smoker, quit right now. There are many associated health risks, and your eye health is one of them. Most smokers have an increased proclivity for eye disease. Quit right now and your eyes will be thankful.

Be sure you know whether or not eye disease runs in your family. Many eye problems are hereditary, so it is important that you and your doctor have this information. Ask older family members so you will know.

Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids will help you with eye care. It’s a great idea to eat foods that have omega-3 fatty acids in them. Tuna, halibut, salmon and leafy, green vegetables are great dietary choices. Eat 1 serving a day.

Go in for an eye checkup fairly often. Some issues may fly under the radar. Regular eye check-ups are best for this. Many of the conditions may be treated once they’re detected early.

Always wear your sunglasses. Wearing proper sunglasses can ensure that your eyes are protected from the harsh ultraviolet rays of the sun. UV exposure can cause cataracts and/or macular degeneration. Look for a sticker stating that the sunglasses you are buying block UVB and UVA rays, so you know your eyes will be protected. You need to get sunglasses that wrap around to help you out in any angle.

Wear a pair of high-quality sunglasses to protect your eyes. They provide protection for your eyes from harmful UV rays. Select sunglasses that block 100 percent of UVB and UVA rays. If you drive a lot, consider polarized lenses. They help to reduce glare. You need to wear shades even if your contact lenses already offer some form of UV protection.

If you use the computer a lot, realize the fact that it can be harmful to your eyes. Blink your eyes often if you are suffering from dry eyes. Also, cut back on the glare on your screen. You can also purchase an anti-glare computer screen. Also, make sure your screen is positioned so that your eyes are level with the very top of the computer monitor. By looking downward, your eyes are better protected from strain.

Saline Solution

Always have some saline solution at home. Goggles can help you keep your eyes safe on the job or in the yard. Goggles cannot be worn all the time though. If you get soap or household cleaning chemicals in your eye, the best thing you can do right away is to clean your eyes with a saline solution.

Even if your vision is perfect now, eyesight can weaken over time. However, with proper eye care, they can remain healthy for a long time. Use the tips daily to protect your eyes.
